  • proximity searching – A technique used to search databases using words that are located closely to each other in the search box.
  • phrase searching - A technique used to search a database using a specific phrase that is typed into the search box.
  • stop words – A technique used to search databases in which irrelevant or unimportant words located in the search box are filtered out of the search.
  • open access – A database that can be used by anyone free of charge.
